Co-workers have the
greatest positive impact
on mental health

Nearly half of U.S. workers (48 percent) said their co-workers have a positive impact on their mental health, and only 14 percent said co-workers have a negative impact. In comparison, fewer workers (44 percent) said their manager had a positive impact on their mental health, and only 34 percent said their job itself had a positive impact on their mental health.

Half say working in
HR has a negative
mental health impact

Almost half of HR professionals (47 percent) say that working in HR has had a negative impact on their mental health and well-being. And 75 percent say working in HR is emotionally exhausting. However, the vast majority of HR professionals (93 percent) find the work they do meaningful, and 83 percent have an overall positive attitude toward the HR profession.

Many workers are
unaware of employers'
mental health benefits


More than two-thirds of U.S. workers (67 percent) say they are unaware or only somewhat aware of the mental health resources their organization provides. When asked which benefits would best support their mental health, workers cited paid time off (43 percent), mental health days (39 percent), flexible schedules (33 percent) and permanent remote work (23 percent).
