DEA Moves to Lower Restrictions on Medical Marijuana
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is moving to declassify marijuana from Schedule I drug status—the same designation as heroin and LSD—to Schedule III, a classification shared by anabolic steroids and ketamine. It would recognize medical use of marijuana but would not make recreational use legal. Employers would still face multiple differing state laws regulating the drug.
